Application Description

Auction Bridge and International Bridge (IB) represent a significant stage in the evolution of bridge, branching from bridge whist and preceding contract bridge. This variation offers a distinct gameplay experience compared to its more modern counterpart.

Unlike contract bridge, Auction Bridge & IB features substantially different scoring systems for tricks, bonuses, and penalties. The crucial concept of vulnerability is absent.

While trump selection shares similarities with contract bridge, the process is less intricate. The gameplay and rules themselves also exhibit strong parallels to contract bridge.

The bidding commences with the dealer, who must initially bid to win at least the odd trick in a chosen trump suit or at no-trump. The winning bid is determined by its point value (excluding doubles), prioritizing higher point totals over a greater number of tricks. For instance, a bid of 3 Spades (27 points) surpasses a bid of 4 Clubs (24 points).

Trick scoring beyond the initial six tricks is as follows:

• No-trump: 10 points
• Spades: 9 points
• Hearts: 8 points
• Diamonds: 7 points
• Clubs: 6 points

A game is achieved at 30 points.
