Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and want to challenge friends? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal remains the same: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before starting, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the identical puzzle.

Game Modes:

The "Show correct numbers of opponent" option (in game options) determines visibility. Enabled, each correctly placed number is visible to all players, earning points for the first player to place it correctly. Disabled, only your own grid is visible, allowing multiple players to earn points for the same correct number.

Time-Outs:

Incorrect entries result in a time-out (configurable, default 30 seconds), preventing actions while others continue playing.

Scoring:

Correct numbers earn points based on difficulty level (higher level = more points). Incorrect numbers deduct half the points you would have gained.

Winning:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show correct numbers of opponent" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it; however, this doesn't grant extra points, so others can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team vs. Individual Play:

Team play allows two teams to compete. Players select their team (1 or 2) upon joining. A minimum of two players per team is required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/colors are shared among teammates, facilitating collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle provides tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes to empty squares using the pen icon. Clicking a square with a number already noted removes it.

• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones) using the paint bucket icon.
