待望の『World of Goo』続編がついにモバイルプラットフォームに登場しました。2DBOYとTomorrow Corporationは、Android、iOS、Steam、PlayStation 5向けに『World of Goo 2』を正式リリースしました。
『World of Goo 2』では、30種類以上の全新規実績が導入され、さらに2DBOYおよびTomorrow Corporationが開発したゲームとしては初となるオプションメニューが実装されています。
オリジナルの『World of Goo』は2008年10月にWindows向けにデビューし、プレイヤーは物理学と重力と戦いながらスライムボールを使用して奇妙な構造物を構築する課題に挑みました。本続編では、流れ、跳ね、実際の粘性流体のように振る舞うリアルな液体シミュレーションにより、その体験をさらに高めています。
プレイヤーは川のような液体を操り、それをスライムボールに変換し、炎を消火し、ますます複雑になるパズルを解いていきます。ゲームには、ゼリースライム、液体ランチャー、成長/縮小スライム、さらには爆発性スライムを含む革新的なスライムタイプが導入され、新たなゲームプレイの仕組みを生み出しています。
続編では、60以上もの丁寧に作り込まれたレベルにまたがる没入型の5章からなるストーリーが特徴で、各レベルには追加の課題があります。物語は数十万年に及び、環境保護を謳う会社によるスライム収穫への探求を追います。しかし彼らの真の動機は謎に包まれたままです。
