Application Description

Unleash the Power of Your Keys with KeyMapper! (Open Source!)

This app lets you remap your device's hardware buttons for increased functionality and personalized control. But what exactly can you remap?

Remappable Buttons:

  • Fingerprint gestures (on compatible devices)
  • Volume buttons
  • Navigation buttons
  • Bluetooth and wired keyboard keys
  • Buttons on other connected devices

Important Note: Only hardware buttons are remappable. There's no guarantee all buttons will work, and this app isn't designed for game control. Your device manufacturer might restrict remapping capabilities.

Creating Custom Key Combinations:

KeyMapper lets you combine multiple keys from various devices to create custom "triggers." Each trigger can perform multiple actions, with keys pressed simultaneously or sequentially. You can even customize responses for short presses, long presses, and double presses. Add "constraints" to limit trigger activation to specific situations.

Unremappable Buttons:

Certain buttons remain off-limits:

  • Power button
  • Bixby button
  • Mouse buttons
  • Game controller D-pad, thumbsticks, and triggers

Screen-Off Limitation: Keymaps won't function with the screen off—an Android system limitation.

Action Possibilities:

Many actions are available, but some require root access or specific Android versions. For a complete list of actions, consult the user guide: https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions

Permissions:

Not all permissions are required. The app will inform you if a permission is needed for a specific feature.

  • Accessibility Service: Essential for remapping; allows the app to monitor and intercept key events.
  • Device Admin: Needed to turn off the screen using the relevant action.
  • Modify System Settings: Enables brightness and rotation adjustments.
  • Camera: Controls the flashlight.

Heads-up: Enabling the accessibility service might disable "enhanced data encryption" on some devices.
