Pokémon Gold and Silver, developed by Game Freak, were released in 1999 for the Game Boy Color and received widespread acclaim for their innovative features. These games introduced an in-game time system that tracks the current time and day of the week, affecting Pokémon appearances and game events. Additionally, Gold and Silver expanded the Pokémon universe by introducing 100 new species, known as Gen 2 Pokémon, including Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and many others. The games were later remade for the Nintendo DS in 2009 as Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
