Iconic Sims Character Joins The Sims 4 Roster

Attention, Simmers: the infamous Burglar has made a comeback.

For longtime players of the earlier Sims titles, the Burglar is a familiar—and unwelcome—visitor. Now, this sneaky character is creeping back into your gameplay as part of the newest update for The Sims 4.

Available on PC and console, the update brings back Robin Banks, meaning it’s time to stash your valuables somewhere safe. She typically strikes at night, slipping into homes while Sims are asleep, but she’s also been known to pull off brazen heists in broad daylight… so stay vigilant.

To protect your home, Sims can rely on a trusty burglar alarm. If Robin triggers it, the police are sure to arrive in time to arrest her and return your stolen items. Even homes without an alarm can call the police—just act quickly. Or, if you prefer, you can take matters into your own hands. The choice is yours.

After more than a decade since The Sims 4 launched, the Burglar is finally part of the game. Image credit: EA.

Burglar events are intentionally rare, but if you love unpredictability, enable the Lot Challenge "Heist Havoc" to increase your chances.

"We’re absolutely thrilled to bring the Burglar back to The Sims universe," The Sims team shared. "A huge thanks to our entire team for making it happen. Robin Banks isn’t just here to raid your Sims’ homes—she’s here to win your hearts! What better way to mark The Sims’ 25th anniversary than with this nostalgic yet exciting addition? We hope you’re as eager as we are to see the mischief Robin stirs up in your households."

Though The Sims 4 is now ten years old—and the series itself celebrates 25 years—the game still welcomed over 15 million new players last year alone.

According to EA’s Q2 earnings report from late last year, The Sims 4, previously a premium title, took four years to reach 20 million unique players. But after it transitioned to free-to-play in 2022, the game instantly attracted a staggering 31 million new players. As of May 2024, it has reached a total of 85 million players. And for now, there are still no official plans for The Sims 5… Plumbob!
