The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct unveiled a surprising third-party game that has caught the attention of many gamers. FromSoftware, known for their challenging and atmospheric games, announced a new title called *The Duskbloods*. This game, set to release in 2026 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, bears striking similarities to the PlayStation 4-exclusive *Bloodborne*. In *The Duskbloods*, players take on the role of the "Bloodsworn," individuals who have transcended humanity through the power of special blood, and engage in intense combat to become the "First Blood."
A press release from FromSoftware confirmed that *The Duskbloods* is a PvPvE title with "online multiplayer at its core," allowing up to eight players to compete against each other and environmental enemies. While it evokes the dark, gothic atmosphere of *Bloodborne*, it also shares elements with the upcoming *Elden Ring Nightreign*, but with a focus on PvP rather than solely co-op PvE. The reveal included glimpses of terrifying beasts and bosses, stirring a mix of excitement and speculation among fans.
Reactions from the *Bloodborne* community have been varied. On Reddit's r/Bloodborne, one user exclaimed, "BLOOD! EVERY FIVE SECONDS THEY TALKED ABOUT BLOOD!" Another speculated, "That game is 100% *Bloodborne 2*. I assume the name change is either because it's in a different setting, or because of Sony exclusivity." The announcement has sparked discussions about whether *The Duskbloods* is a spiritual successor to *Bloodborne*, especially since *Bloodborne* has remained a PlayStation 4 exclusive, never making its way to PC or other platforms.

Some fans humorously remarked, "Nintendo really got tired of waiting for Bloodborne 2 and just decided to fund it themselves." Others noted the exclusivity, saying, "Much like Bloodborne, The Duskbloods is currently a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. Bloodborne was always an exclusive, this is on brand."
However, excitement has been tempered by the revelation that *The Duskbloods* is a PvPvE experience, diverging from the traditional single-player RPG format fans might have expected from FromSoftware. This shift, combined with the game's exclusivity to the Nintendo Switch 2, has led to mixed feelings among potential players.
More information about *The Duskbloods* is expected soon, with an interview featuring director Hidetaka Miyazaki set to be published on Nintendo's website on April 4. This interview should provide further details on the game's mechanics, the nature of its PvPvE elements, and whether it can truly satisfy the long-standing desires of *Bloodborne* enthusiasts.
