Gearbox Unveils Borderlands 4 Release Date: September 23, 2025
Gearbox Software, during a recent State of Play presentation, officially announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on September 23, 2025. President Randy Pitchford made the announcement, accompanied by a new trailer showcasing exciting gameplay features.
A standout feature revealed in the trailer is the inclusion of a grappling hook, adding a new dimension to traversal and combat. However, fans can rest assured that the series' signature blend of over-the-top weaponry, explosive action, and chaotic mayhem remains a core element.
To further build anticipation, Gearbox promised a dedicated Borderlands 4 State of Play showcase this spring. This special presentation will delve deeper into the gameplay mechanics and, naturally, unveil a plethora of new weaponry.
While narrative details remain scarce, the lead writer's previous comments hinting at a potential shift away from excessive "toilet humor" in the previous installment have sparked curiosity. Whether Borderlands 4 will adopt a more mature tone remains to be seen.
Further information on Borderlands 4's storyline and features will be revealed during the spring's dedicated State of Play event. For now, you can find a recap of all the major announcements from the recent PlayStation State of Play here.
