The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* brings exciting news for fans: Caldarus, the dragon, is now a romanceable character. Here's your comprehensive guide on unlocking his romance questline, participating in special events, and choosing the perfect gifts to win his heart.

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To begin your romantic journey with Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once you complete this offering, a cutscene will play where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed with the Sealing Scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus intervenes, transforming into his human form and granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods.

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can find Caldarus at his temple in the Deep Woods. Use the Dragon’s Breath spell to permanently unlock this area on your map, allowing you to interact with him through gifts and daily conversations, just like with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the latest update, Caldarus starts with a heart level of six, which is the current cap. Unfortunately, there are no heart events for him at this time, but more are expected in future updates. Currently, there are only a few cutscenes involving Caldarus. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, introducing you to Mistria’s magic system and mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves the farmer from being sealed, revealing his human form and retreating to recover.

Following the March 2025 update, you can trigger a date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to take romanceable NPCs with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Since Caldarus starts with six hearts, you can automatically invite him. To do so, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet him afterward to start the event. During your date at the Summit, Caldarus discusses the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding, leading to a deep conversation about soul connections and past lives. The date ends with an invitation to watch the stars from his temple.
