Call of Duty: Warzone players are experiencing game freezes and crashes during loading screens, sometimes resulting in unfair penalties. While a permanent fix is still under development, developers have implemented a temporary solution.
The Problem: Players reported widespread game freezes and crashes while loading into matches, leading to frustration and unwarranted penalties, including Skill Rating (SR) deductions and temporary match bans. This issue emerged despite a major game update earlier in 2025.
Developer Response: Raven Software acknowledged the problem and, as of January 9th, temporarily suspended SR penalties and timeouts for players disconnecting before joining Ranked matches. This addresses player concerns regarding unfair punishments due to the bug. Penalties for mid-match disconnections remain in effect.
Current Status: The underlying bug causing the loading screen crashes remains unfixed. While the temporary penalty suspension offers immediate relief, players await a complete resolution to prevent further disruptions to gameplay, especially in Ranked mode. The ongoing issue highlights the persistent challenges faced by the developers in maintaining a stable and bug-free experience for Warzone players.
