In a February 13, 2025 IGN interview with Civilization VII lead designer Ed Beach, a glimmer of hope emerged for Gandhi's return. While not immediately confirmed, Beach suggested that Gandhi, along with other absent leaders, could appear in future DLC.

Beach addressed the absence of familiar civilizations like Great Britain and India, explaining the difficult choices involved in curating the initial roster. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," he stated. The decision to omit some established civilizations stemmed from the sheer number of popular choices, with the developers aiming to include fresh and exciting options for players. "Things are getting left behind," Beach admitted, "but we're always looking at the big picture, when we're going to bring leaders or civs into the fold. So there's hope for Gandhi, yet."

Given the extensive DLC history of Civilization VI, Gandhi's eventual inclusion in Civilization VII seems likely, albeit potentially as a future DLC addition. The precise timing, however, remains unknown.
