"The Last of Us Complete Surprises PS5 Users with Launch"

Naughty Dog, the studio behind iconic PlayStation titles such as Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted, has once again re-released its critically acclaimed The Last of Us series. This time, the games are bundled into an all-in-one package for the PlayStation 5 (PS5), dubbed The Last of Us Complete. Announced and launched today, this collection includes the 2022 remake, The Last of Us Part 1, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, offering players a comprehensive gaming experience.

The Last of Us Complete not only includes the main storylines but also all the bonus content added since their initial releases. This means you get the Left Behind DLC focused on Ellie, as well as The Last of Us Part 2’s No Return and Lost Levels content. If you're a fan of the HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey but haven't yet explored the video games that started it all, this all-encompassing digital bundle is available for $99.99.

In a post on the PlayStation.Blog, Naughty Dog Head of Studio Neil Druckmann shared that a physical The Last of Us Complete Collector’s Edition will be released on July 10 for $109.99, with pre-orders available now. This edition comes with additional perks to justify the slightly higher price, including a Steelbook case, game discs, The Last of Us: American Dreams comics 1 – 4, four lithographic art prints, and a thank-you letter from Druckmann himself.

Druckmann expressed his gratitude in the blog post: “From our entire studio, thank you so much for your incredible support for The Last of Us and Naughty Dog over the years. This is such an exciting moment for both the franchise and our teams. The Last of Us series originally debuted on the PS3 in 2013 and has since become a cherished part of the PlayStation lineup. Despite its multiple re-releases and remasters drawing criticism from some quarters, the saga of Joel and Ellie has remained popular. The journey was enhanced for the PS4 with better graphics in 2014 and reimagined for the PS5 with a full remake in 2022. The Last of Us Part 2, which continued Ellie’s narrative, was released in 2020 and remastered in early 2024. Both games have also been made available on PC, with The Last of Us Part 1 arriving in 2023 and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered just last week.

The Last of Us Complete consolidates all of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic adventures into one comprehensive package, marking yet another re-release. While some may question the repeated revisits to Joel and Ellie’s world, the timing aligns with the upcoming premiere of HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2, set to air its first episode this Sunday. Additionally, Season 3 was greenlit just yesterday.
