Skateboarding Returns: Console Playtesting for the New skate. Game Begins

Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skate. game, a revival of the beloved Skate franchise, is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. While PC players have been enjoying test periods since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for Xbox and PlayStation users to experience a new Skate game in over 15 years.

The last mainline entry, Skate 3, launched in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for an extended period. However, persistent fan demand, fueled by the #Skate4 hashtag, finally led to the creation of a dedicated development team and the announcement of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest signals positive progress towards that release window.

Via the official skate. Twitter account, Xbox and PlayStation players can now participate in the playtest through the skate. Insider program (registration required). A recent video featuring developers briefly addressed fan questions, confirming the addition of more Black hairstyle options and playfully acknowledging the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement.

Confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service title, details about skate. remain somewhat limited. The game is set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, a work-in-progress inspired by San Vanelona, Port Carverton, and real-world locations. While a map leak surfaced in 2023, significant changes are likely. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the game's wider release.
