Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide
"Among men, Lu Bu. Among horses, Red Hare." This iconic phrase from Dynasty Warriors: Origins perfectly encapsulates the challenge – and the glory – of defeating Lu Bu. While the game strongly suggests avoiding this legendary warrior, many players will want to test their mettle. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Should You Fight Lu Bu?
Facing Lu Bu is no walk in the park; a victory can easily take over an hour. However, the rewards are significant:
Lu Bu's First Phase
Preparation is key. Equip a multi-hit sword to stagger Lu Bu, and select Battle Arts with low Bravery requirements, rapid activation, and wide range (e.g., Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, Flying Dragon Slash). Boost your health and defense with accessories like Divine Bird's Wing and Divine Turtle's Shell. Crucially, use a weapon that grants Bravery upon Perfect Evades, as this will be your primary Bravery source.
Initially, Lu Bu rides Red Hare. He charges rapidly but pauses occasionally. Exploit these pauses to unleash Battle Arts, then retreat. His attacks, aside from Red Hare's ground-pound, have limited area of effect, making evasion relatively straightforward. Once his health drops to 80%, he dismounts, and the real fight begins.
Lu Bu's Second Phase
On foot, Lu Bu's speed and aggression intensify. He frequently moves with a red aura, indicating invulnerability to stuns. Evade his charges (he typically charges in threes). A grab attack, easily dodged, precedes some charges.
His most dangerous move is a three-arrow volley preceded by an orange glow. This requires immediate countermeasures, such as Absconding Slash (a ranged Battle Art). Close-range Battle Arts are ill-advised during this attack. Maintain a charged Musou gauge as a failsafe; its invincibility frames are crucial for survival.
Lu Bu is surprisingly susceptible to juggling during this phase. Sustained attacks quickly charge your Battle Arts, accelerating the depletion of his Fortitude meter. Maintain close proximity for better reaction time, and prioritize evasion.
Lu Bu's Final Phase
Lu Bu's Musou Rage initiates the final phase. He becomes unstaggerable and unleashes relentless attacks. The objective is to deplete his Fortitude before he can execute his Musou attack (repeated Musou attacks will force a restart). Use all available resources – Musou attacks, Battle Arts, and rapid, aggressive attacks – to overcome this final hurdle.
Victory over Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a significant achievement. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
