Elliot Page's Pageboy Productions is developing a television series adaptation of the PlayStation and Quantic Dream game, Beyond: Two Souls. The project, currently in early development, aims to retain the game's non-linear narrative structure.
According to Deadline, Pageboy Productions secured the rights from Quantic Dream. Page described his experience filming the game as "one of the most challenging and fulfilling acting experiences" of his career, highlighting the story's emotional depth as a strong foundation for the adaptation. He emphasized the team's desire to create a unique vision that resonates with both existing fans and new audiences.
Matt Jordan Smitt, Pageboy's head of development and production, stated the intention to honor the game's legacy while incorporating fresh perspectives. He underscored the exploration of survival and the impact of consequential choices as central to the narrative.
Originally released on PlayStation 3 in 2013, Beyond: Two Souls later arrived on PlayStation 4 (2015) and PC (2019). Directed and written by David Cage of Quantic Dream, the game follows Jodie Holmes, a young woman with psychic abilities connected to a spirit named Aiden. The game's non-linear storyline, spanning various points in Jodie's life, and its star-studded cast, including Page and Willem Dafoe, were key aspects of its success.
Cage confirmed his collaboration with Page on the TV adaptation, though the specifics of his involvement remain undisclosed. He expressed his excitement about reuniting with Page and his confidence in Page's ability to translate the story's emotional impact to a new medium.
While a release date for the Beyond: Two Souls TV series remains unannounced, IGN's original game review and other Quantic Dream game reviews are available online.
