The curtains are drawing to a close for Disney Mirrorverse, the innovative mobile game that merged beloved Disney and Pixar characters into a fresh universe. Kabam, the game's developer, has officially announced that the end of service (EOS) for Disney Mirrorverse is set for December 16th, 2024. This news comes as a shock to many, especially since the game has already been removed from the Google Play Store and in-app purchases have been disabled. Players have roughly three months left to enjoy the game before the servers shut down for good.
Launched in June 2022, Disney Mirrorverse offered an action RPG experience, where players could team up with reimagined versions of their favorite Disney and Pixar characters. Kabam recommends that current players complete the final storyline before the game's permanent departure. Despite initial excitement and a strong following among Disney enthusiasts, the game struggled to retain players due to its prolonged two-year early access beta phase and inconsistent content updates.
Disney Mirrorverse never fully realized its potential. The game's shard collection system, which required heavy grinding or significant spending to fully develop characters, was a major point of contention. However, the game excelled in character design, showcasing both creativity and high-quality graphics that captivated many players.
The sting of the EOS announcement is heightened by the fact that just a week prior, Kabam had introduced new story content and added Cinderella as a playable character. This sudden decision has left many in the Disney Mirrorverse community surprised and disappointed. It's worth noting that this isn't Kabam's first rodeo with ending a game abruptly; they previously shut down Transformers: Forged to Fight and a spin-off of Marvel Contest of Champions.
