On April 27, YouTube user 2Chrispy shared a video titled "I Decoded the Ancient Monkey Scrolls of Donkey Kong Bananza," explaining his journey to decipher the "Ancient Monkey Scrolls." This hidden script appeared in the game’s trailers, gameplay clips, and official website.
Crafted languages in games aren’t new—Nintendo used a similar approach with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Hylian script. But decoding one before a game’s launch is extraordinary.
This discovery highlights the fervor of Donkey Kong fans, or perhaps their eagerness for new updates. While 2Chrispy’s findings await confirmation, his meticulous analysis convinces many that he’s nailed the symbols perfectly.
In his video, 2Chrispy detailed how he decoded the "bananabet," starting with the phrase "Chip Exchange." When players collect a Banandium Chip, a message pops up: "Trade these for bananas at any Chip Exchange." By analyzing trailer frames, 2Chrispy identified the "Chip Exchange" signage as his starting point.
He noticed the symbols aligned with the letters in "exchange," with the recurring "e" supporting his theory. Using this method across screenshots and trailers, he employed a word finder app to complete the puzzle.
