This year marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, and developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is inviting fans to participate in a unique celebration. To commemorate this milestone, RGG Studio is allowing fans to vote on what official merchandise they'd like to see produced. The options range from typical items like a 20th anniversary hoodie and a themed pencil case to more eccentric choices such as cult clothing, a traffic cone, and even golden underwear.
As reported by Automaton, the voting process includes a selection of 100 different items. RGG Studio has promised to bring the top two vote-getters to market within the next two years. While the competition is currently listed in Japanese, fans can submit their votes on the official website.
Among the more unusual items fans can choose from are the cult outfit worn by Munan Suzuki, leader of The Order of Munan Chohept Onast in Yakuza 0, the iconic traffic cone used by Majima to ambush Kiryu in Yakuza Kiwami, and the curiously named "Puffy Gold Pants." Other quirky options include the sake Majima enjoys in a shack in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among many other oddities.

In addition to this fan-driven merchandise initiative, the franchise will see a new release in its 20th anniversary year. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to launch on February 21, 2025. While RGG Studio celebrated the 10th anniversary with the release of the beloved prequel Yakuza 0, no similar projects have been announced for later in the year. However, given RGG Studio's track record of rapid development, the possibility of multiple releases in one year isn't out of the question. Over the last five years, the studio has impressively released nine games, including Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball games, along with an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5.
