It's the day before the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and excitement is building with just under 24 hours until Nintendo unveils its next-generation console. Amidst the buzz, a recent filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has emerged, potentially shedding light on Nintendo's plans for the Switch 2's controller lineup.
As reported on Famiboards and highlighted by Nintendo-focused outlets like GoNintendo, an FCC filing surfaced on March 31 under the product code "BEE-008." This filing is believed by some fans to pertain to a new game controller, possibly the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. It's important to note that this is purely speculation, as Nintendo has yet to confirm any details about a Switch 2 Pro Controller. However, certain features listed in the filing, such as Bluetooth and NFC capabilities, suggest it could indeed be a Pro Controller.
The most notable aspect of this filing, if it does pertain to the Switch 2 Pro Controller, is the potential inclusion of a headphone jack. Unlike the original Switch Pro Controller, which lacked this feature, the presence of a headphone jack would align the Switch 2 Pro Controller with competitors like the DualSense and Xbox Series controllers. This addition could significantly enhance the user experience, offering a convenient way to connect audio devices directly to the controller. While past Nintendo filings have occasionally previewed upcoming products, it's crucial to approach this information with cautious optimism. Without official confirmation, we'll need to wait for tomorrow's Switch 2 Direct to get the full picture.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is scheduled to air tomorrow at 6am PT / 9am ET across Nintendo's channels. This event promises a "closer look" at the Switch 2 following its initial reveal earlier this year, and fans are eager for detailed information that might include a release date.
Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 Direct will last for an hour. Additionally, two Nintendo Treehouse: Live | Nintendo Switch 2 presentations featuring hands-on gameplay are set for April 3 and April 4, starting at 7am PT each day. These sessions will give fans an even deeper dive into what the Switch 2 has to offer.
