Feral Interactive Releases Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

Exciting news for fans of the classic strategy game *ROME: Total War* on Android—Feral Interactive has just rolled out a substantial free update, dubbed the Imperium Update. This update brings a host of gameplay tweaks, enhanced control options, and quality-of-life improvements that are set to elevate your gaming experience. If you’ve been enjoying *ROME: Total War* since its Android debut in 2018, you’re in for a treat with these new features. And don’t worry if you’re into the standalone expansions—*Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* will receive the same update next week.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update incorporates some of the finest features from Feral’s more recent mobile titles, such as *Total War: MEDIEVAL II* and *EMPIRE*. Among the new additions are three control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, which offer more precise command over your units and enhance battle tactics. Now, you can easily move your armies, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to drag paths manually.

Positioning Mode allows for meticulous unit placement through a tap-and-hold mechanism. Meanwhile, the Group Grid feature simplifies unit group management with a collapsible selection menu. For those moments when ranged units need to engage in close combat, Melee Mode comes in handy.

One of the most significant enhancements is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically reduces game speed when you’re issuing complex orders, giving you more time to strategize. And for the first time, *ROME: Total War* on Android (and iPad) supports keyboard and mouse, offering a more familiar control scheme for many players.

The minimap has also been revamped to mirror the intuitive design seen in *MEDIEVAL II*, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows you to quickly return to the default view, making it easier to keep track of your empire.

The Imperium Update is now available for *ROME: Total War* on Android, and you can download it directly from the Google Play Store. Keep an eye out for the updates to *Barbarian Invasion* and *Alexander* next week, as they will also receive these enhancements.
