In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hans's main quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls," requires crafting a Fever Tonic to aid Thomas. This guide details acquiring the recipe and brewing the tonic.
Acquiring the Fever Tonic Recipe:
The recipe resides within Trosky Castle's Surgeon's Workshop. Access is gained through two methods: stealth or persuasion.

-
Stealth: Discreetly enter the workshop.
-
Persuasion: Complete "For Whom the Bell Tolls" up to delivering the horseshoe. Speak with Cook Fanka, offer assistance with her locked chest, and enter the noble's kitchen. Convince the ailing Chamberlain you can help him (skill checks involved). Success grants workshop access. Crafting a Digestive Potion alongside the Fever Tonic further enhances your chances.

If persuasion fails, steal food, exit the kitchen, and use the courtyard stairs to access another kitchen. Bribe the guard with the stolen food. Sneak upstairs to the Surgeon's Workshop. The journal containing the recipe is on the bookshelf.
Brewing the Fever Tonic:

The necessary herbs are already at the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Obtain a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
- Distill the tonic using the Still. Multiple attempts may be necessary. Additional herbs are available in the chest.
Completing the Quest:
With the Fever Tonic (and optionally, the Digestive Potion), locate Thomas. If you gained the Chamberlain's trust, return to him with both potions. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to reach the chapel and find Thomas and Adele. Speak with Adele to conclude the quest.
