The iconic "One-Winged Angel" soundtrack from Final Fantasy 7 made a surprising yet thrilling appearance at the Louis Vuitton Men's Fall-Winter Fashion Show. This unexpected collaboration between video game music and high fashion brought a unique flair to the runway.
The renowned track, known as the theme for Final Fantasy 7's antagonist Sephiroth, kicked off the fashion show. A live orchestra masterfully performed the majestic piece as models showcased Louis Vuitton's latest luxury collection. This choice of opening song added a dramatic and sophisticated touch to the event.
Pharrell Williams, the show's creative director, curated the soundtrack, which otherwise featured more contemporary pop artists such as The Weeknd, Playboy Carti, Don Toliver, and K-POP stars SEVENTEEN and BTS' j-hope. While Pharrell contributed to writing and composing the other tracks, "One-Winged Angel" stands out as it was composed by Nobuo Uematsu. The inclusion of this video game classic might reflect Pharrell's personal taste or his admiration for the Final Fantasy series.
For those intrigued by this fusion of fashion and gaming culture, the full livestream is available on the Louis Vuitton official YouTube channel.
Square Enix, the creators of Final Fantasy 7, expressed their delight on the official Final Fantasy 7 X (Twitter) account, saying, "We're more than happy to hear music director Pharrell Williams and team have included One-Winged Angel in the Louis Vuitton Men Fall-Winter 2025 Fashion Show!" They shared this sentiment alongside a link to the video, showcasing their excitement about the unexpected feature.
Final Fantasy 7 holds a special place in the hearts of gamers worldwide. This classic title, released in 1997, follows the journey of protagonist Cloud Strife and his companions as they combat the evil megacorporation Shinra and the fallen hero Sephiroth. The game has left an indelible mark on the gaming community.
The revival of Final Fantasy 7 began with a surprise trailer at E3 2015, followed by a gameplay reveal at PlayStation Experience 2015. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake Project, envisioned as a trilogy, is currently in development, with the third installment on the horizon. This modern reimagining brings enhanced graphics, new content, dynamic combat, and fresh storylines to the beloved original.
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The sequel, "Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth," is exclusive to PlayStation 5, with a PC version set to launch on Steam on January 23rd.
