Fortnite Mask: Use or Remove?

Apr 09,2025 Author: Zachary

In *Fortnite*, challenges usually require players to follow specific instructions to earn XP. However, Chapter 6, Season 1 introduces a unique twist where players can make a choice. Here's how to decide whether to use the Mask or rid yourself of it in *Fortnite*.

How To Decide To Use the Mask or Rid Yourself of It in Fortnite

Oni Masks in Fortnite Chapter 6.

The second set of Weekly Quests in *Fortnite* Chapter 6, Season 1 presents a more complex challenge than the previous week. You'll need to find a hidden workshop, visit Kento multiple times, and explore a Portal. Amidst these tasks, one challenge stands out for its simplicity: collect either a Fire Oni Mask or a Void Oni Mask.

If you've been playing since the start of the season, you're likely familiar with the various locations where Masks can be found, as well as the possibility of obtaining them from eliminated opponents. With Masks being a common sight in matches, securing that 25k XP should be straightforward. However, once you've added a Mask to your inventory, don't rush into battle. There's an important decision to make before returning to the lobby.

Upon picking up a Mask, a new *Fortnite* Quest will prompt you to "decide to use the Mask or rid yourself of it." This choice might seem daunting, but it's actually quite simple. You can either harness the Mask's power or discard it from your inventory.

If you decide to keep the Mask, it's wise to use its power immediately. Other players are eager to complete their challenges and won't hesitate to eliminate you to claim a Mask for themselves. By using the Mask right away, you avoid the risk of losing it and having to search for another one in your next game.

That's how you decide to use the Mask or rid yourself of it in *Fortnite*. For more Quest guides, check out how to place Spirit Charms to learn about magic.

*Fortnite* is available on various platforms, including the Meta Quest 2 and 3.
