Hearthstone Reveals StarCraft Mini-Set Details and Release Date

Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion, a crossover with Blizzard's StarCraft universe, introduces class and multi-class cards representing the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran factions.

The Mini-Set's card distribution includes three cards per Hearthstone class. Zerg cards, playable by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, focus on swarming Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for devastating area-of-effect damage. Protoss cards, for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue, introduce mana manipulation strategies to deploy powerful units like the Carrier. Terran cards, available to Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior, enhance the existing Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond expansion, offering new Starship Pieces and strategies. A single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set.

Acquiring the complete Mini-Set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a slight increase from previous Mini-Sets. A golden version is available for $80 (or 12,000 gold). Alternatively, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) can be purchased for $10 (or 1200 gold) each.

To celebrate the release, Blizzard is hosting two streamed events:

  • StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards.
  • HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Showcasing Hearthstone community creators competing in faction-based matches and mini-games.

Viewers of these Twitch streams will receive two standard and two golden The Great Dark Beyond packs as rewards.
