Helldivers 2 Players Return to Defend Malevelon Creek

Apr 13,2025 Author: Harper

The developers at Arrowhead Studios certainly know how to tap into a dark sense of nostalgia. One year after the iconic liberation of Malevelon Creek in Helldivers 2, players are being summoned back to defend the planet against a resurgent Automaton force. This follows a recent Major Order failure that had the community on edge, especially with reports suggesting that the Automatons' Incineration Corps were advancing on the Severin Sector, with Malevelon Creek at its heart.

The original battle for Malevelon Creek was one of the earliest and most memorable collective efforts in Helldivers 2. Players flocked to the planet to maintain Super Earth's control amidst its treacherous jungle terrain and formidable enemies, earning it nicknames like "Robot Vietnam." Following the successful liberation, Arrowhead honored the achievement with a special commemorative cape.

This weekend, a new Major Order confirmed what many feared: Helldivers are heading back to Malevelon Creek. The Incineration Corps' offensive is targeting the planet, and skirmishes are already breaking out across the sector as forces advance towards the Creek. Super Earth's in-game briefing has called upon Helldivers to protect the resting place of the "Creekers" who fell during the initial liberation, emphasizing the need to prevent the "greatest net desecration" during the upcoming Malevelon Creek Memorial Day.

The Helldivers 2 community is buzzing with excitement over this Major Order. The subreddit is flooded with memes referencing Starship Troopers, the Doom Slayer, and even Delicious in Dungeon. Veterans of the original Creek battle, who remember the swarms of bots and lasers, are ready for another round, while newer players are eager to experience this iconic location for themselves. These communal efforts, where players log on and work together towards significant milestones, are a testament to the game's ability to create a shared, immersive experience within its universe.

However, there's a sense of uncertainty among players. Some believe Arrowhead may still have surprises in store, given that the Major Order has five days left and Malevelon Creek remains a focal point for Automaton incursions. As teams target specific goals and the war for the Creek intensifies, it promises to be an exhilarating week for Helldivers 2 players.
