HP is currently offering an incredibly competitive price for a gaming laptop equipped with the new RTX 5080 GPU: the 2025 Omen Max 16. You can currently purchase a well-equipped configuration for just $2,609.99 shipped by applying the coupon code "PC10DEAL." This is the only RTX 5080 laptop we've found priced under $3,000. The Omen Max is HP's latest gaming model, replacing the discontinued Omen 16, and it features an upgraded, more robust cooling system to handle its powerful components.

Optional Upgrade: You can select a 16" 2560x1600 OLED display for an additional $190.

This CPU and GPU combination delivers outstanding gaming performance

The HP Omen Max 16 is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, which can reach a maximum turbo frequency of 5.4GHz. It features 24 cores and a 40MB total L2 cache. According to Passmark benchmarks, this is currently the fastest mobile processor available, holding a solid 7% performance lead over the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D.

Based on analysis from Tom's Hardware, the mobile RTX 5080 GPU delivers approximately 15%-20% more performance than the previous RTX 4080 mobile. It also outperforms the last generation's flagship, the RTX 4090, by about 5%. The RTX 5080 also represents a better value than the significantly more expensive RTX 5090, as it trails in performance by only about 15% despite a nearly $1,000 lower price. Given that the Omen Max 16 features a QHD+ (2560x1600) display rather than 4K, this GPU is more than capable of running new and upcoming games at high frame rates, especially when DLSS 4 is supported.

Consider the Razer Blade 16 RTX 5080 as an alternative

Razer's new 2025 Razer Blade 16 and 18 gaming laptops are now shipping. These models are currently available exclusively from Razer.com and Razer retail stores. Pricing for the Razer Blade 16 starts at $2,999.99 for an RTX 5070 Ti configuration, $3,499.99 for the RTX 5080 model, and $4,499.99 for the top-tier RTX 5090 version.

Razer Blade laptops are renowned for their exceptional build quality. The chassis is crafted from a single block of aluminum, resulting in a design that is remarkably thin and light for a gaming laptop. To manage thermal performance within this sleek form factor, Razer utilizes a proprietary cooling solution that includes a vacuum-sealed, liquid-filled copper vapor chamber to efficiently dissipate heat. Similar to Apple MacBook Pros, a tremendous amount of engineering goes into every Razer Blade, which justifies their premium price compared to other mainstream gaming laptop brands.
