The HP Omen Transcend 32" 4K QD OLED gaming monitor, initially announced at CES 2024 and released in December, has been worth the wait due to its unique and practical features. If you're in the market for the best 4K gaming monitor, the HP Omen Transcend should definitely be on your shortlist.
Originally priced at $1,299.99, now available for $899.99 at Best Buy, this monitor leverages Samsung's QD OLED technology. This technology offers brighter displays while maintaining the near-infinite response time, contrast ratio, and black levels that OLED panels are renowned for. It's HDR True Black 400 certified, boasts a 99.3% DCI-P3 color range, and comes factory-calibrated for optimal performance.
Gamers will appreciate the fast 240Hz refresh rate and G-Sync certification, ensuring smooth gameplay without tearing. Additionally, the monitor features built-in speakers tuned by HyperX, specifically designed for gaming and entertainment.
In terms of connectivity, the Omen Transcend includes HDMI 2.1 and the newer DisplayPort 2.1 standard, which is compatible with the upcoming GeForce 5000 series GPUs. There's also a USB Type-C port with 140W Power Delivery and DisplayPort alternate mode, allowing you to connect your laptop with just one cable.
It's important to note that to fully utilize a 4K monitor, especially at high frame rates up to 240fps, you'll need a powerful GPU. A minimum of an GeForce RTX 4070 is recommended, while an RTX 4080 Super, RTX 4090, or RX 7900XTX would be ideal.
HP stands behind this monitor with a comprehensive three-year warranty.
Priced at $1,199.99, now reduced to $899.99 at Alienware, the Alienware AW3225QF, available since early 2024, closely competes with the HP Omen Transcend. As Alienware's top-tier gaming monitor, it's currently on sale with a $300 discount. While the HP model is newer and offers additional features, Alienware's monitor comes with a superior warranty that includes burn-in protection.
