Sony has unveiled its lineup of free PlayStation Plus games for January 2025, now available for redemption in the PlayStation Store. This month's selection includes one of 2024's most talked-about games for the PlayStation 5, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developed by Rocksteady Studios, known for the Batman: Arkham series.
Each month, Sony offers a fresh set of free PlayStation Plus games that subscribers across all tiers (Essential, Extra, and Premium) can claim and keep as long as their subscription remains active. The December 2024 lineup, which included It Takes Two, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Temtem, was available for addition to game libraries until Monday, January 6, 2025. On New Year's Day, Sony announced the January 2025 PlayStation Plus games, which became available starting Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
The free PlayStation Plus games for January 2025 consist of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Subscribers have until Monday, February 3, 2025, to redeem these titles. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, released in February 2024, is the most recent addition and has the largest file size at 79.43 GB on the PS5. Despite its initial critical reception leading to a decline in its player base, many PlayStation Plus subscribers may experience it for the first time this month.
Among the trio, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered, available only on PS4, is the only game without a native PS5 version or upgrade. It occupies 31.55 GB and, while not optimized for PS5's advanced features, can be played seamlessly through backwards compatibility.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe stands out as it offers native versions for both PS4 and PS5. This expanded re-imagining of the 2013 original introduces new features, enhanced accessibility options, and content warnings. Its file size is notably small at 5.10 GB on PS4 and 5.77 GB on PS5.
PlayStation Plus subscribers looking to add all three games to their library should ensure they have at least 117 GB of free storage space on their PS5. Sony is expected to reveal the February 2025 PlayStation Plus lineup towards the end of January, with more games being added to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers throughout the year.
