The Planet Earth and Moon in Orbit 42179 set boasts dimensions of 9" high, 12.5" long, and 7" wide, and is made up of 526 pieces. It's designed for ages 10 and up and offers a relatively straightforward build that can be completed in a few hours. But the fun doesn't stop there.
The standout feature of this set is its interactivity. After assembling, you can turn the handle to witness four distinct types of movement: (1) the Earth rotates on its axis, (2) the sun rotates on its axis, (3) the moon orbits the Earth, and (4) the Earth orbits the sun. It's not only visually engaging but also serves as an excellent educational tool. Kids can learn about the mechanics of a crankshaft while gaining insights into how the positions of the moon and sun relate to different months, seasons, and moon phases. This set offers great value for money, especially when compared to other LEGO sets that lose their appeal once built.
