Lost Soul Aside's Steam Release Frustrates Gamers Due to Sony's Region Lock
UltiZero Games' highly anticipated action RPG, Lost Soul Aside, faces significant backlash from PC gamers due to a region lock impacting over 130 countries on its Steam release. This restriction, stemming from Sony's limitations on PlayStation-published titles, prevents the game from appearing on Steam in regions unsupported by the PlayStation Network (PSN), despite not requiring a PSN account for gameplay.

The situation has sparked outrage amongst PC players, forcing many to forgo a purchase. Workarounds, such as creating a Steam account in a PSN-supported region, are deemed inconvenient and unacceptable by a large segment of the potential player base. This is particularly frustrating given PlayStation's recent removal of PSN requirements for its PC titles.

A Blend of Fantasy and Realism
Lost Soul Aside, first unveiled in 2016, boasts a unique visual style blending fantasy elements with realistic graphics. In interviews with IGN and Famitsu (both February 20, 2025), CEO Yang Bing highlighted the game's consistent artistic direction and the influences shaping its development.
The game's protagonist, Kaser, exemplifies this blend, featuring stylized features alongside realistic textures. This approach, inspired by Final Fantasy XV's blend of fantasy and reality, is a core element of the game's aesthetic.

Action Inspired by Gaming Giants
Lost Soul Aside's fast-paced, stylish combat draws heavily from influential titles like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Devil May Cry. Yang Bing emphasized the game's commitment to refining its combat system, offering depth and accessibility for players of varying skill levels.

Lost Soul Aside launches May 30, 2025, on PlayStation 5 and PC. The region lock, however, casts a significant shadow over its PC release, leaving many potential players deeply disappointed.
