Lugia Is Making Its Dynamax Debut in Pokémon Go!

Pokémon Go is welcoming Dynamax Lugia for the first time during the upcoming Max Battle Weekend. While this legendary Pokémon has appeared in several events over the years, its return this year holds a special significance.

When Does the Dynamax Lugia Max Battle Weekend Take Place?

The event runs from 6:00 a.m. on November 29th through 9:00 p.m. on November 30th, 2025. Five-Star Raids will be the exclusive venue to battle Lugia, and trainers seeking rarer encounters have a chance to catch its Shiny variant.

The Max Particles cap is set at 1,600 for the duration of the weekend. Additionally, an accelerated Power Spot refresh rate aims to help players accumulate points more efficiently. Power Spots will also award eight times their standard share during this period.

Once your daily Max Particle allowance from the Nearby menu is depleted, the reduced walking distance requirement activates at just one-quarter of the normal amount. Players utilizing Adventure Sync can expect to gather resources even faster than usual.

Meanwhile, Free Timed Research launches on November 25th, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. Completing all objectives grants an encounter with Dynamax Gastly. This research task also provides Gastly Candy and Max Particles to prepare for the Lugia raid, concluding on November 30th, 2025, at 9:00 p.m.

Campfire Remains Essential for Coordination

Tapping the green icon located beneath the compass in the top-right corner of the map reveals nearby Max Raids and Flare activity. Trainers can also scout local meetups via the Campfire Map, helping to organize teams before the weekend's surge in participation.

The arrival of Dynamax Lugia in Pokémon Go promises an exciting experience for all players. You can download the game from the Google Play Store ahead of its launch!
