Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ramps Up for Release
One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata Joins as Gennojo

Mackenyu, celebrated for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the Netflix series adaptation of the iconic anime "One Piece," is set to lend his voice to the character Gennojo in Ubisoft's eagerly awaited RPG, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Set against the backdrop of Feudal Japan, this latest installment promises to deliver an immersive experience, with Mackenyu voicing Gennojo in both Japanese and English.

Gennojo is described by Ubisoft as a pivotal character who assists the protagonist in tracking and eliminating a crucial target. Ubisoft further characterizes Gennojo as "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He's a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, always walking the line with a mix of wit, deceit, and swagger." His motivation stems from a profound desire to overthrow corruption, risking his own life to achieve his goals. Despite his rough demeanor, Gennojo harbors a strong sense of justice, particularly towards aiding the poor and elderly.
While the exact timing of Gennojo's introduction in the game remains undisclosed, it is confirmed that he will play a significant role in the game's missions. Mackenyu also revealed that Gennojo is part of a group called the "Shinobi League," and players will have the opportunity to "basically recruit" him as a companion during their journey through Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
