Unlike many modern video games, Mario Kart World is offered in just one edition. You can purchase it standalone for $79.99 or as part of a bundle with the Nintendo Switch 2 for $499.99.

Opt for the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle that includes Super Mario Kart World and save $30 compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Keep in mind, the bundle comes with a digital copy of the game, so if you prefer a physical copy, you'll need to pay the extra $30 for the standalone version.
When purchased on its own, Mario Kart World comes with a price tag of $79.99, which is $10 more than the typical price of AAA titles for PlayStation and Xbox this generation. While I'm not thrilled about rising game prices, I understand the increased costs of game development. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher price point.
Mario Kart World is set to be the most expansive Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world environment reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one race to the next, driving from the end of one track directly to the start of another.
The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, altering visibility and traction. You're free to explore off-track at any time, driving "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom, as Nintendo puts it. Each race features 24 drivers, the highest number ever in a Mario Kart game.
A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, navigating through checkpoints. If you don't meet the required position at a checkpoint, you're out of the race.
For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to cruise around the world at your leisure, team up with friends, and capture memorable moments in photos.
Stay tuned for more details during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, dive into our hands-on preview of Mario Kart World for further insights.
