Developed by California-based studio Second Dinner and published by ByteDance subsidiary Nuverse, Marvel Snap faced an unexpected ban alongside other apps like CapCut and Lemon8. On January 18, 2025, the game was removed from iOS and Android platforms.
While PC players can still access the game via Steam, the iOS and Android removal sparked widespread player frustration, particularly due to authorization issues and the lack of prior warning. Many players unknowingly continued making in-app purchases before the ban.
Second Dinner expressed surprise at the incident and assured players they are actively working to restore the game's availability. An official statement on Platform X confirmed, “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”
Interestingly, the ban didn't affect all ByteDance apps. Games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible.
Recently, we discussed the addition of the Moonstone card to Marvel Snap. This powerful Ongoing card (4/6) copies the Ongoing effects of 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in its lane. Given the existing number of low-cost Ongoing cards like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, Moonstone's potential for rapid power generation is significant. Unlike many inexpensive Ongoing cards that primarily focus on power generation through their effects, Moonstone leverages these effects for free, quickly accumulating high power.
