The dragon, now enraged, sets its sights on your group, making for a thrilling and dangerous encounter. Here’s how you can strategize to overcome this challenge and even capture Rey Dau.

Rey Dau, the first dragon monster you encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds, wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it is vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. Target its head for maximum impact, as it has a 4-star weakness. Alternatively, aim for the wings, which have a 3-star weakness. Avoid attacking the torso due to its sturdiness, and steer clear of the legs, as they are well-protected. For status ailments, all are effective except Stun and Paralysis, given Rey Dau's lightning affinity.
A strategic approach to quickly subdue Rey Dau involves using a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing a window to land critical hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, immediately target its horns, which will glow bright red in Focus Mode, for significant damage.
To enhance your survival chances, equip gear like the Hope Armor set, which offers the Divine Blessing skill to reduce incoming damage. It also provides resistance to Lightning and Fire, making it perfect for this battle. Consider consuming meals that boost elemental resistance. If dodging proves challenging, position yourself close to Rey Dau’s legs, as the monster primarily attacks areas in front and behind it, minimizing your risk.
Rey Dau’s tendency to move between locations during the fight can be turned to your advantage. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on lone trees to stun the monster briefly. Be cautious when the dragon returns to its nest, as it employs a follow-up lightning attack that can easily stun you. Exercise patience and strategic positioning to avoid fatal shocks.

Instead of slaying Rey Dau, you can opt for capturing it to earn rewards in Monster Hunter Wilds. First, reduce the dragon’s health until it's on the brink of death, indicated by a skull icon near its icon on the mini-map. Then, deploy a Pitfall Trap, as Shock Traps won’t work on this lightning dragon. Follow up swiftly with a Tranquilizer to ensure the capture within the brief window available.
