The Meta Quest Pro has reached the end of its journey, as officially announced on the company's website. With the discontinuation of the Meta Quest Pro line, the remaining stock is expected to be depleted by the end of 2024 or early 2025. Despite the success of Meta's VR headset lineup, the Meta Quest Pro struggled to gain traction due to its steep price tag of $1,499.99, which was considerably higher than the more budget-friendly standard Meta Quest models ranging from $299.99 to $499.99. The high cost deterred both individual consumers and corporate clients, ultimately leading to its discontinuation.
As the Meta Quest Pro has sold out and is no longer available on the official store page, potential buyers are encouraged to explore the Meta Quest 3 as a compelling alternative. The Meta Quest 3 is hailed as the "ultimate mixed reality experience" and is offered at a more accessible price point of $499. While it's still possible to find the Meta Quest Pro at some retail locations, those opportunities are diminishing rapidly.
For enthusiasts of the Meta Quest Pro, the Meta Quest 3 is an excellent substitute, delivering many of the same features and benefits at a significantly lower cost. The Meta Quest 3 is designed with a strong focus on mixed reality, allowing users to seamlessly blend virtual elements with their physical surroundings. This capability enables unique interactions, such as typing on a real keyboard while seeing virtual overlays.
Moreover, the Meta Quest 3 boasts some superior technical specifications compared to the Quest Pro. It's lighter, offers a higher resolution, and supports a higher refresh rate, all of which contribute to a more immersive and comfortable experience. The compatibility with the Touch Pro controllers, originally launched with the Quest Pro, adds to the appeal, ensuring that users can continue enjoying advanced control options. For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Meta Quest 3S starts at $299.99, offering a slightly reduced spec set but still delivering a compelling mixed reality experience.
