Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially since the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. The mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde in the preceding section.
Locating the Bomb
The defenders at the barricaded escalators explain that a demolition team went missing while attempting to collapse the tunnel. Your task is to find and detonate their unexploded bomb. Nosalises will constantly attack; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows in the central path, as they inflict damage. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, showing Artyom planting and lighting the fuse. Quickly retreat to a safe distance; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb can achieve the same result. Note: Even with the tunnel destroyed, nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes.
Destroying the Airlock
The mission isn't over yet! The defenders mentioned an airlock that needs to be sealed. Ascend the stairs on the right side of the main platform to the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and locate the support columns. Interact with them to place and detonate a pipe bomb, then immediately evacuate. Once both the tunnel and airlock are destroyed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, initiating the "Armory" mission. A video walkthrough is available (link omitted as not provided in original text).
