Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its anticipated FPS title, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated that it will be ceasing operations after three years, thanking its team of over 55 developers. The announcement also included a plea for job opportunities for its now-displaced employees.
Midnight Society was established by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhoy (Halo). Deadrop, their flagship free-to-play PvPvE extraction shooter, aimed for a 2024 release but ultimately failed to meet its target.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages sent via Twitch Whispers, development on Deadrop continued until its recent termination. The game was set in a unique, retro-futuristic 80s-inspired universe, featuring characters with distinctive Daft Punk-esque helmets and a blend of firearms and melee weaponry.
This closure adds Midnight Society to the growing list of game studios impacted by recent industry challenges, joining companies like Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs who have also faced layoffs or closures.
