After teasing it back in May, the fantasy sandbox MMORPG Albion Online has officially released its highly anticipated update: Abyssal Depths. Sandbox Interactive is expanding the world of swords and sorcery with this major new mode.
True to its name, the update introduces a fresh dungeon type nestled within ancient aqueducts overrun by demons. This claustrophobic underground labyrinth allows parties of two or three players to fight off both monsters and rival adventurers.
As you descend deeper into the Depths, you will spend unpredictable amounts of time gathering Souls and stacking buffs. If defeated, you only lose your inventory items, keeping your primary gear safe. The deepest level features a locked Treasure Vault waiting to be opened.
The Abyssal Depths also includes the Antiquarian’s Den, a gloomy underground hub accessible from every Royal City and Caerleon. This location serves as a central launchpad for accessing the Depths, Hellgates, and Corrupted Dungeons.
Progression in the area revolves around the Antiquarian Standing system, centered on the shadowy figure managing the Den. Players can encounter two new spiderlings: the Hellspinner and the Soulspinner.
The update brings two standout Crystal Weapons to Albion Online: the Truebolt Hammer and the Stillgaze Staff. The hammer allows you to smash enemies with electrifying force while shielding nearby allies, whereas the staff transforms you into a Crystal Cobra.
Additionally, a new Character Progression category has been added to the Journal. This system is linked to the Destiny Board, providing milestones, long-term achievements, and rare rewards for dedicated players.
