Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch Size Revealed

The day-one patch for *Monster Hunter Wilds* is now available, and it's a hefty one at 18GB. Initially released for the PlayStation 5, Capcom is expected to extend this update to other platforms soon. However, detailed patch notes have not been released, leaving players curious about the specifics of the update.

Speculation among fans suggests that the patch might introduce high-resolution textures to the game. This theory is fueled by the fact that review copies distributed to critics were missing these high-resolution textures, which significantly enhance the visual quality of the game. The large file size of the patch could be attributed to the space required for these detailed textures.

Given that the patch debuted on the PlayStation 5, there's a possibility it includes enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has already announced that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will support PS5 Pro enhancements at launch, which could mean improved gameplay performance for those playing on this console.

Another expected component of this day-one patch is bug fixes. Despite Capcom's efforts to polish the game, some bugs have persisted, and addressing them in the initial patch is a common practice in the gaming industry.

While it's termed a "day-one patch," players who have pre-ordered *Monster Hunter Wilds* can download the update before the official release date. It's advisable for those with slower internet connections to download the patch before February 28 to ensure a smooth gaming experience right from the start.

It's important to note that this patch, despite its size, is labeled as version 1.000.020 and is not expected to include new content. It's primarily aimed at enhancing gameplay and fixing bugs. For new content, players will have to look forward to the post-launch DLCs. Capcom has planned three paid DLC packs, alongside two free content updates. The first free DLC, arriving in the spring, will introduce Mizutsune along with new event quests. Further content, including new monsters and missions, is scheduled for the summer.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
