Mortal Kombat 1 added a secret fighter with a reference to a legendary rock band

This week's Mortal Kombat 1 update brought a major surprise alongside the announced addition of Conan the Barbarian: a secret fighter named Floyd, a pink-clad ninja! While initially appearing as a joke, Floyd is a legitimate playable character, a clear nod to the iconic rock band Pink Floyd.

His design and moveset directly reference The Dark Side of the Moon album cover, depicting the dispersion of light into colors. Interestingly, Floyd's moves are largely a compilation of techniques borrowed from other ninjas in the game, incorporating Sub-Zero's freezing abilities and Scorpion's spear attacks. Adding to the playful homage, Floyd boasts a quirky 1337 health points.

Long-time fans will recognize a parallel to Reptile, the secret character from the original Mortal Kombat game. Like Floyd, Reptile was notoriously difficult to unlock and utilized a moveset assembled from other ninjas.

The community is currently unraveling the mystery of unlocking Floyd, as the trigger appears somewhat random, though Floyd himself offers cryptic clues to the required challenges. A definitive method remains unconfirmed.
