Square Enix Announces a Special NieR 15th Anniversary Novel

Square Enix celebrated 15 years of NieR with multiple franchise announcements, including new events and projects. During the April 19 livestream, the company introduced the online special novel titled [U]ndecided Option.
The novel will be released in three episodes, with the first already available. The remaining two episodes will launch on April 25 and May 2, respectively. A short preview shares: “A loyal servant encounters an enigmatic boy with a mysterious aura and is guided by him.”
Alongside the novel, Square Enix opened the NieR 15th Anniversary website—a central hub for the online story and other anniversary-related projects and events.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise & More
An exhibition is planned at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and further information will be shared soon.
Additional performances for NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 have been scheduled in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are now available via lottery, with details on the official concert website.
New merchandise was also revealed, including an album of studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, the NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 stories of weapons from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the series protagonists.
Re[in]carnation Developer Blog

NieR Re[in]carnation, the series’ first mobile title, is launching a developer blog series starting April 28. Monthly updates will be published throughout the year, offering insight into the game’s development process.
The game originally launched in January 2021 but was shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. Many fans are curious about the sudden revival of developer updates for a discontinued title, sparking speculation about a possible sequel or remake—though nothing has been officially confirmed.
The livestream concluded with a 20-minute live performance featuring iconic NieR soundtracks. Square Enix confirmed more NieR content is on the way, including events and merchandise announcements in the coming months.
