Nintendo Just Dropped Info on a Bunch of Switch 1 Games That Are Getting Free Performance Upgrades on Switch 2

May 21,2025 Author: Alexander

Nintendo has unveiled a thrilling update for fans of the Nintendo Switch, revealing a list of games that will receive free performance upgrades on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This includes popular titles such as Arms, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Super Mario Odyssey, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, among others. These enhancements are designed to elevate your gaming experience without any additional cost, setting them apart from the premium Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games.

To take advantage of these upgrades, simply connect your Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet and perform a system update. This will enable you to download free updates for selected games, which may include improved graphics or new features like GameShare. Keep in mind, the specifics of these updates vary from game to game, so there's something unique to look forward to with each title.

For instance, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will boast "improved image quality" for high-resolution TVs and an "improved" framerate for smoother gameplay. Meanwhile, Super Mario Odyssey is set to introduce HDR support and GameShare functionality, allowing two players to enjoy the game together online, with one controlling Mario and the other, Cappy.

However, fans of the top-down Zelda games might be disappointed as Nintendo's list does not mention framerate fixes for these titles, despite their known performance issues. This omission is a curious one, and something that fans will be keen to see addressed in future updates.
