Nintendo Says It's Taking 'All Possible Measures' to Beat Switch 2 Scalpers

Nintendo is proactively addressing potential Nintendo Switch 2 launch shortages, aiming to outmaneuver scalpers. Following its latest financial report, President Shuntaro Furukawa stated, "We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like). We are making preparations." This follows last year's emphasis on sufficient production to meet demand as the primary strategy against scalping. The initial Switch launch in 2017 faced significant supply constraints, benefiting scalpers. However, Furukawa assures a different outcome for the Switch successor, citing resolved semiconductor shortages and a commitment to ample production. He also clarified that declining Switch sales aren't attributed to consumers awaiting the Switch 2. "We don't think the impact of refraining from purchasing is that great," he stated. Further plans include a Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd, showcasing the console and its features, along with hands-on events globally. Nintendo also plans continued support for the original Switch, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond slated for 2025 release.
