"Oblivion Remastered Keeps Original Game's Iconic Line Flub"

May 13,2025 Author: Mia

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on one of Bethesda's most beloved titles, enhancing its visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, the team at Virtuos has made a point to retain one of the original game's most cherished quirks: an iconic voice line from Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf found in the Temple of the One in the Imperial City.

Long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series will remember Tandilwe's voice line from the original release of Oblivion on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago. It's a recording that has been speculated to include a blooper from actress Linda Kenyon's recording session. This endearing flub has become a fan-favorite moment, and many were eager to see if it would survive the remastering process.

As players embarked on their journey through the revamped landscapes of Cyrodiil starting yesterday, the remaster's dedication to preserving the original's charm became evident. While the game boasts updated environments, character models, and items, many classic elements, including Tandilwe's hilarious blooper, have been lovingly preserved. The voice line remains unchanged, without subtitles, much to the delight of the community.

In a 2019 interview with YouTube channel Jake 'The Voice' Parr, Linda Kenyon addressed the infamous blooper, humorously claiming, "It wasn't my fault!"

As players dive into Oblivion Remastered, discussions are ongoing about whether the game leans more towards a remake than a remaster. However, the retention of the original game's quirky elements has been warmly received by both new and returning players. Bethesda and Virtuos's commitment to preserving these aspects has clearly resonated with the fanbase.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered surprised fans with its launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S yesterday.
