Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprint Upgrades, Photo Mode Added

Apr 06,2025 Author: Nicholas

Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, introduces a host of exciting new features, including crossplay across all platforms. This update allows players to store Pal data in the Global Palbox and transfer Pals between worlds, enhancing the game's connectivity and flexibility. A new storage system, the Dimensional Pal Storage, offers 10 times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This system can be accessed by guild members and also used as personal storage with private settings, providing players with more options for managing their Pals and resources.

In addition to these storage enhancements, players can now change their character's appearance without affecting armor stats through the new Cosmetic Armour System. This feature, accessible via the Antique Dresser, allows for greater customization and personalization. The update also introduces a Photo Mode, which can be accessed from the Pal Command Wheel, enabling players to take stunning screenshots by hiding the UI and moving the camera freely.

Further enriching the gameplay experience, the Drafting Table allows players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, adding a new layer of strategy to base building. Dedicated servers for Mac have also been added, ensuring a smoother experience for Mac users.

Several specification adjustments have been made to improve gameplay mechanics. Buildings can now be placed even if they overlap with a Pal, and when connecting foundations or roofs, the pieces will automatically align in the same direction. Assigning an Ice Pal to the Flea Market will slow down item decay in storage and sales, and torches have been added at the entrances of random dungeons for better visibility. Players can now sit on chairs and cushions, enhancing the immersive experience. Some weapons that dealt ultra-high damage to trees will no longer drop items upon destruction, and new NPCs with improved behavior during conversations have been added.

Balance adjustments include changes to elemental chest rewards, with Dog Coins now always dropping and a small chance of containing work suitability books. The EXP gained from defeating the Attack Chopper has been increased, as has the DPS of Flamethrowers. Adjustments to the default attacks of Electric and Dark Pals when all active skills are on cooldown have been made to align them with other elements. Some human NPCs now have work suitability and work animations when assigned tasks at a base, and summoned raid bosses can no longer damage other bases. The Water attribute has been added to Dumud, and NPC event rewards have been adjusted, with all conversation logs reset to allow players to claim rewards again.

UI improvements include the categorization of favorites into Favourite 1, 2, and 3 groups, and the ability to continuously increase or decrease values in the Pal Soul Enhancement UI by holding the +/- button. A new sorting option for the Pal Box by Work Suitability Level has been added, along with an "Extra Large" text size option and Fullscreen Mode.

Several new achievements have been added to the game, providing players with more goals to strive for. Numerous bug fixes have also been implemented, addressing issues such as players being launched into space while climbing, getting stunned over water while riding a flying Pal, and various other gameplay and server-related problems.

Developer Pocketpair is working on adding dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, which will be released in the future. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an incredible 32 million players. The studio has laid out a content roadmap for 2025, which includes an "ending scenario" and more new content for the popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld launched on Steam for $30 and was immediately available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, breaking sales and concurrent player number records. Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, noted that the game's launch was so successful that the developer struggled to handle the massive profits generated. In response, Pocketpair quickly capitalized on the game's success by signing a deal with Sony to form Palworld Entertainment, a new business focused on expanding the IP and launching the game on PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, seeking an injunction against infringement and compensation for damages, alleging that Palworld has infringed on "multiple" patent rights. Pocketpair has provided an update, identifying the patents in question, and has made adjustments to how players summon Pals in the game. The studio has vowed to defend its position in court against Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.
