Fields of Mistria: Can You Actually Date Your Romance Options?

Fields of Mistria, lauded for its well-developed romance options and engaging storylines, leaves players wondering: can you go on dates with your potential partners?

The short answer is a nuanced "not yet." While traditional dating isn't currently a core mechanic, the existing romance system is robust and rewarding, justifying its Steam price tag.

The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system, increasing the maximum relationship level from four hearts to six and adding new heart events for each romanceable NPC. These events, featuring playable cutscenes, unlock at two, four, and six hearts, with plans for eight and ten-heart events in future updates. However, the March 2025 update won't expand the heart level cap or add new events.

Despite the lack of explicit dating, the existing romance is exceptionally well-crafted. The dialogue is rich and realistically flirty, leaving ample room for romantic interpretation even in seemingly platonic interactions. The progression feels deeply satisfying, building intimacy gradually.

A significant addition in the last update is the Shooting Star Festival. This summer event allows for date-like interactions with eligible NPCs (requiring four hearts). Currently, you can share a stargazing evening with Caldarus, although this differs from the date experiences with other romance options. Future updates, potentially the March 2025 update focusing on the dragon's romance, might alter this.

While official dates aren't yet implemented, the current depth of the romance system provides a compelling experience until this feature arrives.
