Pokémon TCG Pocket Triumphant Light Expansion Guide

Mar 18,2025 Author: Nathan

The Pokémon TCG landscape has been significantly altered by the arrival of the Triumphant Light expansion. This set introduces 96 new cards, shaking up the meta and creating exciting new possibilities. The expansion features a new booster pack and the highly anticipated mythical Pokémon, Arceus, along with a game-changing new battle mechanic: Link Abilities.

Arceus and its Link Abilities have revolutionized gameplay. Pokémon can now unleash powerful combined effects when paired with Arceus or Arceus EX, leading to dynamic and strategic battles.

Arceus EX

The crown jewel of Triumphant Light, Arceus EX boasts a four-diamond rarity. Its Fabled Lustre Ability grants immunity to special conditions, while its Ultimate Force attack deals 70 damage plus additional damage for each of your Benched Pokémon. Here's a breakdown of its stats:

  • Rarity: Four-Diamond
  • HP: 140
  • Attack (Ultimate Force): 70 + (damage for each benched Pokémon)
  • Energy Cost: Three Colorless
  • Retreat Cost: 2
  • Weakness: Fighting
  • Ability: Fabled Lustre

Arceus also enhances its partners through various Link Abilities: Power Link, Resilience Link, Vigor Link, Speed Link, and Cunning Link. These links create powerful synergies and encourage diverse playstyles.

Top Decks

The evolving meta has spawned several top-tier decks in Triumphant Light:

  1. Arceus EX & Dialga EX
  2. Arceus EX & Carnivine
  3. Arceus EX & Darkrai EX
  4. Darkrai EX & Staraptor
  5. Leafeon EX & Celebi EX
  6. Arceus EX & Crobat
  7. Infernape EX & Arceus EX

Featured Cards

The expansion adds 75 base set cards and 21 rare cards, for a total of 96 cards, including several rare cards and one hyper rare card. Key Trainer and Supporter cards like Adaman, Irida, Barry, and the Celestic Town Elder are also introduced. Adaman and Irida are particularly noteworthy, with Irida capable of healing 40 damage and Adaman reducing damage taken by Metal-type Pokémon.

Conclusion

While smaller than sets like Genetic Apex or Space-Time Smackdown, Triumphant Light packs a powerful punch. Securing the best cards may require luck (and perhaps a substantial budget). The introduction of Link Abilities has undeniably shifted the strategic landscape, making it an exciting time to join the Pokémon TCG community.
