It has become a tradition for developers of popular esports games to make major announcements just before the grand finals of their world championships. Ubisoft, the developer behind Rainbow Six Siege, followed this trend as the game approaches its tenth anniversary. Fans were eagerly anticipating something significant, and Ubisoft did not disappoint!
Ubisoft unveiled Siege X, a substantial upgrade to Rainbow Six Siege. The developers clarified that Siege X is not a sequel, but it goes beyond a mere update. Fans can expect Siege X to transform Rainbow Six Siege in a way similar to how Counter-Strike 2 revamped Global Offensive. It's an overhaul that feels like a new game while preserving all the progress and data from the existing version.
More information about Siege X will be revealed during a special three-hour presentation on March 13, featuring a live audience in Atlanta. To mark the ten-year milestone of Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft has also released a special celebratory pack. This pack allows players to unlock legendary skins from the game's early seasons, offering a comprehensive collection of nostalgic items.
