The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is a fantastic drive for both your gaming PC and PS5. It easily surpasses Sony's minimum speed requirements for the PS5, boasting sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and 6,300MB/s respectively. While not quite as fast as the 990 Pro, it's significantly faster than the standard 990 Evo. The key difference? This drive lacks DRAM. However, this is irrelevant for PS5 performance and for PCs, the 990 Evo Plus utilizes HMB (host memory buffer), effectively using a negligible amount of your system RAM. Gamers will experience no noticeable performance gap between the two.

The 990 Evo Plus doesn't include a pre-installed heatsink. Its newer, single-sided design is energy-efficient and generates minimal heat, making a heatsink likely unnecessary for PS5 use. While adding one provides extra peace of mind, it's not essential unless you prefer it.
